Morningstar School of Minsitry Bonfire, South Carolina

School of Ministry

It’s always fun to go to a place where you’re known. Here at Morningstar School of Ministry, there are a bunch of people from Zao Water who have been to Tanzania before, and have stayed out in Orbili with these Maasai (Masai) before. It’s such a treat for the En-kata Choir to see the friends who they have welcomed into their homes, here in America.

Painting

We had a miracle blessing at the bonfire in South Carolina. Clay was given a painting of three Maasai (Masai) men by his artist friend in Florida. His friend told him a little about the Maasai (Masai), and he brought it home to South Carolina with him. When he heard that the Maasai (Masai) En-kata Choir was coming to his school he thought that he would give it to the choir as a blessing, but as he talked to people he decided that it would be even more of a blessing to auction it off to the highest bidder.

Part two of this miracle story is that two weeks ago, the three Maasai men in the En-kata Choir pulled me aside, and we talked about the famine back at home. We talked about how the money we had left for their families had run out, and how their families were going to survive with loans until they returned home. We talked about faith, and the fact that God had called each of us on this tour, and that He said He would NEVER leave or forsake us. We prayed, and we talked about things that we could perhaps auction off as a solution to this problem. We didn’t come up with any good ideas.

The painting sold for the exact amount that we had talked about needing.

God hears. God answers prayers.

fire

Just when I think I know the story I’m about to translate, someone switches something up! Around the bonfire, Yona explained how to kill a lion. He told us that the guy who throws the first spear gets the tail, and the guy who throws the second spear gets the paw. I asked what they do with the tail, and Yona, all of a sudden, started singing and dancing around the fire. Before long the Maasai (Masai)were singing and echoing him.  🙂  When he stopped he explained that they tie the tail onto the end of the spear, and begin to sing that all the cowards can come down from the trees now!

Tanzanian

We met a Pastor from Arusha, Tanzania. And we were all delighted to meet another Tanzanian, and speak Swahili with him.

Grace sm

We went to Pat and Grace’s house for some delicious meat! And the Maasai (Masai) enjoyed the meal so much after driving 9 hours from Tennessee to South Carolina, then singing at the bonfire!

Happy Meat sm

Josiah & Mathayo sm

Josiah and Mathayo became immediate friends over Mug root beer.

Thank you South Carolina for showing us such a great time.
