Crossroads Community Church | Merritt, BC

Our final stop in Merritt was at Crossroads Community Church. We were welcomed with open arms after seeing so much of the town. Children from the schools brought their parents and staff from NVIT also came back to see the full story about the choir.

The evening started with a traditional hoop dance by a family of World Championship Hoop Dance winners. It was quite impressive and the Maasai connected with the dancing. It’s amazing how many traditions translate between the Maasai and the First Nations.

The reverse seemed true when the Maasai took the stage. The crowd loved the Maasai.

After the show, we even got some of the great people of Merritt to try on the ladies’ changa necklaces and try out their dancing skills with Nembu.

Thank you James and Lori, Ron and Sharon, and everyone in Merritt for such a filled couple of days!
