On The Road Again

Submitted by on October 23, 2011 – 7:01 pmNo Comment

Bright and early in the morning… well, not so bright yet but 4am definitely counts as early… we loaded up from Quesnal to make the long drive down to Creston.

It was definitely a chilly start to our morning, and the Maasai fully bundled in blankets quickly dozed off, few barely waking when we made our first gas station stop. We made a Tim Horton’s breakfast stop, with special thanks to the Cook family. And by lunchtime were well into the mountains. The views were gorgeous, and we got to a point where the road was following a little river. We searched for a good place to pull off for lunch. We prayed for a place that was close to the river. Within minutes, we found our spot, and we finally got to get out to walk about, stretch, eat, and get ready for our next leg of the trip.

Brrr. The water is SO cold!

Roadside lunch

So many winding roads up through the mountain passes. As we neared our destination, we got our first glimpses of snow up close. And, we even got to pull off the road to check it out when we also came upon a couple small moose/caribou hanging out in the middle of the road.

SNOW!

At the end of the day, we made it to Creston, with just enough time to have dinner and prep for the night, but more about that to come.
