Maasai Phone Home

While in Calgary, we were extremely blessed to all be able to stay in the same house and have a space completely to ourselves. We will always be thankful for Disneyland vacations and friends who give us their entire home while they’re away.

During one of our outings, there was a playful conversation between Jeremy and Yona about just who was in control… boys and their alpha male competition. Jeremy seems to have won as the outcome was making Yona help prepare dinner. After semi-chopping an onion for our stew, Yona felt quite proud and accomplished. The rest of us are pretty sure Tasha won’t let Yona back in the kitchen.

Another item on the agenda during this leg of the trip was to make phone calls home. The choir had not gotten the chance to hear voices from home since starting their journey 3 weeks prior. We fired up Skype and started making calls. For us, it was fun just to listen in. We’re pretty sure that even Canadian’s don’t say “Eh” this much! But the Maasai got to hear from all their family and friends and get updates from home, including stories from the big choir competition that this group missed out on.

Everyone went to bed feeling so much better after getting to connect with loved ones halfway around the globe.
