The Alsbach Family | Near Pleasantdale, SK

Our journey to the Kinistin Saulteaux reservation was made possible by one special family, the Alsbachs. With all do respect and blessings to everyone who has hosted us, the choir has decided that the Alsbachs are hands-down the best. They took all 10 of us into their home (which is quite a feat all on its own), fed us lots of meat, and let us watch some of our favorite movies (The Gods Must Be Crazy and Madagascar 2). Add this to the fact that they live on the flat, open plains perfect for cows, and the Maasai felt like they had arrived at home.

Emily tried on the ladies necklaces while we were at the school and are surprised at their weight

They look us all for a walk out and about to see the horses. It was really cold, so they made sure that we were properly bundled first.

Doesn't this hat just really suit Yona?

Mathayo got to ride one of the horses

The family cat had just had kittens. They were simply adorable, and SO small. But Yona and Maliaki were surprisingly afraid of them. It makes us start to think that Yona’s lion story could be a Maasai version of a fish tale.

So fierce... lol.

Thank you so much Neal & Darcey, Emily, Liam, Jesse and Clarence Alsbach! We will remember you for a long time and pray many blessings to you all.

And a roadside photo-op in the middle of nowhere to complete our trip to northern Saskatchewan…
