After traveling all day from San Antonio, TX to San Jose, CA, we got into a van and started a multiple hour journey to the place we would stay for five days in Modesto, CA. About ten minutes before we arrived at our final destination Isack says to me in Swahili “Naidine! Make sure this “baba” (father) hasn’t lost his way. I don’t want to arrive back in San Antonio.” We’re still working on understanding just how big America really is.
