On Friday, October 7th, Surrey provided us another opportunity to re-connect with friends from Tanzania. Surrey Free Methodist is pastored by David Ryttersgaard, a former Tanzanian missionary to Agape Ministries, Pamoja’s next door neighbor. He had a wonderful idea to do the service in Swahili and English, singing some Swahili songs as well. This, as it turns out, went amazingly… There were 9 different African countries, including more from Tanzania, represented at the service!!! So, the Maasai were able to have many conversations after performing.

Singing some Swahili praise songs

The church board presented the Maasai with some lovely Canada t-shirts

Yona after presented Pastor David with a rungu

And then David had to show Yona his spears... which we quickly returned to David before Yona decided to show us how to kill a lion

Thank you Surrey Free Methodist for your hospitality! We much enjoyed the night and hope that we brought a little bit of Africa/home back to your church for the time that we were there.
