Bethel Church | Quesnel, BC
From Merritt, we made our way to Quesnel. We had had a gigantic breakfast before leaving town, thanks to chef Diane, so we skipped lunch on the road. While shopping for a light snack right before dinner, we noticed quite the difference between our wazungu snacks and the Maasai snack: Tasha and I grabbed some chips and fruit for us. Jeremy got a whole chicken from the deli for the Maasai. Just a light snack, right?
In Quesnel, Shaw Cable came to the church before our dinner and filmed a segment to air on TV the next day. Like for the radio, we got to tell all about MAPED’s mission to build a school for the Maasai and to give a preview of the night’s show.
Later, at dinner, we taught Yona how to eat whipped cream squirted directly into his mouth. Although, it took the ladies trying it first before Yona was convinced that we weren’t just going to squirt it on his face. The Maasai have decided that given the choice, whipped cream makes a perfect dessert all on its own.
The Maasai got to have a little time unwinding with the youth who were hanging out in the church before the show. This resulted in a Nerf gun war between Petro/Mathayo vs. Yona/Maliaki/Nembu/Eva.
The fun time before hitting the stage definitely carried some energy into the rest of the night as everyone had a blast.
After the show we shared many laughs of our own as people tried dancing like Maasai.
Thank you everyone who came out to Bethel Church! You made our night quite the fun time.
