Maasai and Mini-Golf
On our last free day on Vancouver Island, Jeremy’s cousin John decided to take us for an outing. We tried driving to the top of a mountain, but we got there too early and the road was still closed. Deciding that the Maasai would be too cold for a hike, we went for plan B… mini-golf. Natasha, our Austrailian was even more excited for this than the Maasai; it would be a first for her as well.
When we showed up at Mattick’s Farm Mini-Golf, we found it closed. But the owners saw us, got excited that we were willing to play even in the cool weather and offered to not only open up just for us, but to also let us play for free. We bundled everyone up in jackets, scarves and stocking caps.
Then, after a quick lesson on how to play, and how to avoid the mini-golf hazards of hoops, gnomes, tree stumps and other roadblocks, we were ready to cut loose and see how we could do.
Like we’ve said before, our group is pretty competitive, so mini-golf wasn’t too different from pool. There was lots of laughter and joking around. And Eva would do a little dance with every well shot hole or put.
Mini-golf was considered very fun by all, and they weren’t too bad at it either. So good, I don’t think I want to try going up against them again any time soon.
